I’m not here to be a blueprint for perfection.
I’m Rebecca Whelan, a Niskayuna fitness coach. I help men and women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s so they can build fitness that fits their real life, in person and online.

Why I do this
As a Niskayuna fitness coach, I’m not here to be a blueprint for perfection. For a long time, I thought health was a destination: a perfect number on a scale or a flawless yoga pose. But life isn’t flawless, and neither am I.
Watching my parents struggle with health issues felt like a glimpse into my own future, and it changed everything. Years of fighting my own battles with self-image and a metabolism that felt completely broken taught me what powerless really feels like, so I know what it’s like to feel as if your own body is working against you.
I work with men and women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who feel exactly the same way. They’ve tried before and fallen off, so they wonder if something is wrong with them. Nothing is wrong with them. They just had the wrong program, one built for someone else’s life instead of theirs.
Vitality Transformations grew out of one of the hardest seasons of my life. Losing both parents to health issues I believed could have been prevented or managed with the right knowledge changed everything for me. Because I didn’t want that to be anyone else’s story, I built something to help people fight back.
Fitness has to fit your real life, or it will never last. Rigid schedules fail because someone else’s program was never built for your body. One-size-fits-all plans fall apart when life gets busy. What actually works fits your actual body, your actual schedule, and what you actually want in this season of your life.
I also believe transformation isn’t a straight line. Life changes, so goals shift. Some seasons call for pushing hard, while others call for simply maintaining what you’ve built. Sometimes life gets in the way, so you need a reset. That isn’t failure. That’s just real life. I meet my clients wherever they are: in every phase, every season, and every fresh start.

My story
I’ve been a Niskayuna fitness coach since 2013, coaching and teaching fitness every year since. Vitality Transformations launched in 2021, born out of the pandemic and out of losing both parents within a short time of each other. At first, it was a way to offer fitness while the world was shut down. Then it became something much more personal and purposeful.
Today, I’m a Niskayuna fitness coach serving clients in person and online across the US through Vitality Transformations, a private fitness coaching practice. You can start with the app, join a group program, or work with me one-on-one if you want more support.
My path to health wasn’t a straight line, because it was a series of lessons learned the hard way.
My mother introduced me to yoga as a child, but it took years of struggling with self-image, disordered eating habits, and a metabolism that felt completely broken for me to understand what my body needed. The frustration of feeling like your own biology is working against you is something I also know intimately. Starting over more times than I can count has been my story too.
That isn’t ancient history for me. At 48 years old, I teach fifteen or more fitness classes a week while running a business and a home, so there are still days when fitting in my own workout feels impossible. I’m not standing outside your struggle looking in. I’m standing right there with you.
In 2013, I returned to my yoga mat, and then I began building the expertise I have today. I didn’t do it to collect credentials. Instead, I wanted to make sure that no matter where you’re starting from, I have the tools to help you move forward. I wrote Transformational Habits to put everything I’ve learned into a framework anyone can use, and the fully revised second edition publishes November 10. Learn more about the book.
